icon_biggrin.gificon_wink.gif Hey everyone,,,,it's me,,,your fav "dummy"(hehe)...I did it,,,,I got that wedding cake delivered and set up......

I was so nervous because people were coming in early(for drinks I guess) and were snapping pics left and right....Then they just stood around the table and did that gaulking thing which made me more nervous....I started to sweat!! Lucky me I brought a small hand towel........ icon_redface.gificon_redface.gif

So, I'm getting ready to upload the pics...I thought I was going to have probs with setting up that darn thing, but I said a quickie prayer, and took 2 deep breaths and went at it.
I only made a small boo boo, I didn't quite close my shell border on the front. I can see it, guess that's what they mean by being critical on yourself.

The bride got there early and when she saw the cake, she started to cry, I knew then my work was done and she was happy!!
She kept telling me, it was exactly like the "dummy cake" I made. She couldn't get over the likeness!! (what ever that means).....

So, I hope you all like the pics and please please give me the feedback!! I want to thank you all once again for the extra support.

Oh, before I forget, my nasty neighbor was there and was "raving" to her relatives and friends at how "beautiful the cake was" as she said....
Hmmm,,,I just stood there for a sec and just looked at her with my eye glasses at the middle of my nose and my head tilted down just a bit.

That is one of the most beautiful wedding cakes I that I have ever seen!! You did an amazing job! If you aren't proud of yourself, I AM!! Boy I hope that really showed what a little liar that nasty neighbor was to everyone. You did so great for your first time out! Absolutely love it!!!

You did a great job, and the cake is beautiful! I'd be willing to bet that the neighbor took as much credit as possible for the fact that she knows you and you've done cakes for her! You will more than likely get a lot of orders out of this one!

Score 10 for you, 0 for the neighbor! Janice

Beautifully done! The incident with your neighbor should mean nothing now. Everyone else knows what you can do so your neighbor can't bad mouth you. Great job!

Beautiful! Next time your neighbor asks for a cake - which she probably will now - make sure you tell her that you don't offer discounts any longer! If she can't pay you full price for a professional job she can go elsewhere and pay full price!

You did a great job! Congratulations!

Congrats on a gorgeous cake crashdummy!

It's a huge slap in the face to the Bitter Betty. icon_smile.gif The nerve of her to sit there and brag about it after she moaned and groaned. I'm sure she told everyone she helped "design" it. lol

Even if she did ask for another cake, I'd say no. I wouldn't want business like that or the crap she brings with it. Surely, you'll get orders from this cake alone. thumbs_up.gif

GREAT JOB!!!!

I missed the thread on the neighbor but...got the idea that you did cakes discounted for her and she was ungrateful and was spreading rumors about how awful your work is.

BEAUTIFUL CAKE!!!!

LOL!!!!! Beautiful!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I was nervous when I delivered my first wedding cake and had a bunch of people that worked in the reception hall watching me. I just kept right on working and I heard a few mention "how professional". Little did they know that was my first wedding cake and for "free" because it was for my brother-in-law and his bride! Gotta love the feedback however you get it though huh?

Very pretty! magentaa23 I even hate the drive to set up the cake. i felt like I was going to puke. I kept saying " I can't wait until I have this thing together on the table!" I'm a ball of nerves, and there are always people standing arond watching every move who say " Am I making you nervous?" YES!!! But I just smile. icon_lol.gif

icon_wink.gificon_wink.gif Thanks again everyone....I really appreciate it much!!

Hey there pejmo,,I started to bake the cake tiers on a Wed. and the wedding was on a saturday. Each tier I baked, I cooled overnite in the fridge (easier to work with), then finished all the inner filling and outer icing on Friday and again cooled in the fridge. I kept a close eye on the weather forcast, for I did not know if it was going to be really hot and humid or just really hot!!

If I were you, I'd make sure you have everything you need to do your baking and icing. So that way, you won't be distracted in having to get something.

Good luck on your baking!!!!!

Thanks, I am slowly getting all the stuff I need I went to ebay and got the pedistals for the set up. Being that I am doing the cake do I set up the table? this is all new to me and i want everything to be beautiful for the bride. For one I am trying to start my own bakery out of my home and if this cake goes off good maybe I can get alot more business and then I can open my own shop in town. We don't have a bakery here just walmart and the grocery stores. any advice you have would be great
