Ok here's a pic of the mystery cake. The bakery labels it as chocolate fondant, but doesn't it look like ganache? I've never used ganache. Is it warm when you pour it? Would it melt the buttercream off of a cake?

It sure looks like ganache to me, but I guess it could be pourable fondant.

Freeze the cake. Then pour the ganache over the cake. That way the warm ganache won't melt the buttercream. They may have used a pourable chocolate fondant, but I would think ganache would taste better.

Thanks guys...I think it looks like ganache too. I wasn't sure if there was such a thing as pourable chocolate fondant. I couldn't find a recipe on this site for it.

It looks like ganche to me too! Yes it is lukewarm , so it won't melt your Icing. It s great stuff. Yemmy , easy to work with, can freeze & reheat for up to 3 mo. Plus you can whip it while cold & use it as a filling.

I use it a lot for grooms caked with chocolate covered Strawberries covering the whole top of the cake. It really goes fast!
