When doing cookie bouquets, do you cut your dowels to make them look better in the bouquet? If so, what do you cut them with and how do you keep them smooth? I was thinking of using emoiry (sp?) boards (nail files) to smooth them down. Like to get your input. icon_biggrin.gif

I haven't done a bouquet yet but I think most people use lollipop sticks rather than dowels. Maybe I'm wrong-am I?? Now I want to know too!

I use the wilton (or whatever brand) lollipop and/or cookie sticks
The only cutting I do is if I want one to be really short.

I have taken to using skewers or small wooden dowels. I do cut them to the size I want. I use a BRAND NEW pair of dog nail trimmers. They work great. Cuts with a smooth edge and very easy to do. Just snip and your done. I use them on the larger dowels in my cakes to. There are several different kinds of nail trimmers out there. Mine are heavy duty and come together like scissors with a half circle cut out of the blade.

I like to use the cookie sticks as well and insert them before they are baked.
