Would chocolate cake be good with a strawberry filling? I know that choc and raspberry are good together. Thanks for any comments.

That is one of my most popular orders it the best.
yum!!!!!!!!!!! There is a recipe on this site for fresh strawberry filling best I have found and doesn't get watery you can also use fresh sliced strawberries. I do both which ever the customer wants.

Last week I did a deep chocolate cake with strawberry cream cheese filling and frosting, topped with chocolate dipped strawberries. I was leery of the strawberry fillings, because I've read about so many problems with them weeping...I'll try again if I find a really good, foolproof recipe for the filling. Nevertheless, the cake was delicious and the customer was pleased. PAT

thats the one there isnt' any liquid added to the strawberries just sugar and it holds together well doesn't get watery. I just puree the strawberries then add the sugar bring to a boil cool add the fresh sliced strawberries. I use brandy since I don't have kirsh. I haven't used the syrup.

Thanks for the info - I've copied the recipe and your suggestion for using brandy (hmmm, I have some cherry brandy - wonder how that would taste??) . I have no kirsch, either. I may have to hit the beverage store! PAT

I don't use the kirsch either- I actually used a honey brandy that my FIL bought us and it was wonderful!
