Does anybody have any ideas on how to make a cake with rolls of carpet on it, or anything like that?

not sure exactly what "look" you are after, but here's one I can lay on ya...pad not included.

see sketch. (I drew rolls to right of cake, easily reversed so on left)

the pile of carpet rolls could be made out of many things depending upon how big they need to be and how big the cake is.

if small, I'd use pretzel logs covered in fondant (different color for each roll, could paint patterns on as well.)

if really big, could take Hostess Ho-Ho's snack cakes (same as Yodels by Drakes Cakes) and put two or more end to end to create the roll and then cover in fondant as above.

the bottom most roll has extra fondant pulled out to look like carpet coming off the roll.

while this may not cover the topic wall-to-wall, hopefully we started a runner in the right direction!
