Hi-
I searched the forums to see if I can answer my own questions but I'm coming up empty. I would like to try chocolate clay and covering cookies in the same manner, much like MMF or RBC. How do you attach the chocolate clay to the cookies? icon_confused.gif When I've done RBC in the past, I put it on a warm cookie straight from the oven but I'm afraid this technique is not going to work for the clay. I fear it will melt too fast. So, how would I do it?

Also, can the chocolate clay covered cookies be stored in the freezer? I need to do as much as I can ahead of time due to having a 21 month old at home. She doesn't let me do much when she's around. If I can store in the freezer, should I thaw the same way I would RI covered cookies? Leave them be until the condensation is gone (24 hours)?

Sorry for all the questions!

TIA!

I used a little corn syrup brushed on the cookie to glue it down. I can't remember if I tried it on a warm cookie, but you should try one, in case it works.

It is nice to texture the clay before you cut it out, makes an interesting cover for the cookie.

It freezes fine, thaw the same as any other cookie.

The only way i've done this is by letting the cookie cool and then using corn syrup as glue. This is what i usually do with MMF too.
it works and sticks great!
HTH - hope someone else can help with the other question.

I can't help you with this - but I would love to try it!! Will you do me a favor and post pictures of your cookies when they are done? I would love to see how they turn out.... thumbs_up.gif

Honestly, I am not sure. I have never thought of doing that before. But, now I have to go try. I think that I will try to attach the chocolate clay to the cooled cookie by using a little bit of water. See if that will work. Very cool idea!!

Thank you! I may give it a shot this weekend and see how it works. If not, my practicing will have to wait until July. Busy month of June ahead of me.

Check my pix and you will see a couple of heart cookies with chocolate clay on them and the peach marbled fondant on them. For the glue in both places I used melted and strained apricot preserves. I've also used light corn syrup in a pinch. I think it makes a spectacular cookie! icon_biggrin.gif

Thank for the visual, Bob. The hearts are very pretty. My chocolate clay is made and my flavor drops came in yesterday so now I can make some cookie dough and give the chocolate clay a try. Hopefully I will have some extra time this weekend to do so.

Thanks!
