Would this be considered a BC frosting? Is just any recipe with butter in it considered buttercream. Its a Hershey's recipe and is very tasty. It goes with their "Perfectly chocolate chocolate cake" which is out of this world.

"PERFECTLY CHOCOLATE" CHOCOLATE FROSTING

1 stick (1/2 cup) butter or margarine
2/3 cup HERSHEY'S Cocoa
3 cups powdered sugar
1/3 cup milk
1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Melt butter. Stir in cocoa. Alternately add powdered sugar and milk, beating to spreading consistency. Add small amount additional milk, if needed. Stir in vanilla. About 2 cups frosting.

Yes, this is considered buttercream. Some recipes say buttercream, but have no butter in them. Personally I think that that BC should have butter in it.

I've made it once a very long time ago, and I don't recall it crusting. Maybe its because there isn't shortening in it? Do you know?

If you want it to crust, you could try adding 1-2 TBSP. of Meringue Powder
