I PM'd her but never heard anything back - I wonder if her computer is down? Maybe it caught a virus?

well just think of it this way. When you start working there, the cakes will surely improve, customers will take notice and it will be because of you. Yes, that lady is Jealous because of your skills. Threatened, insecure, and so on. I hate when jobs are disorganized. Sounds like my first day. The supervisor didn't tell the girl who was supposed to train me that I was coming. Ugh.

I'm sure you'll turn that bakery around in no time.

Well we are a curious lot and some might say we are nosy, but perhaps the bakery has eaten humble pie, rehired her under her conditions and now she is running the cake decorating part and she may be too embarrassed to tell us. Like cowdex says "I guess we will never know...."

It is infuriating though. When I post something and people have taken the time to reply, encourage and support me I think it's the least I can do to thank them and let them know what happened. We none of us know each other so that makes it even more remarkable that we're all prepared to help each other out and I don't think that should be taken forgranted.

I'm not saying this is true on this story - but sometimes I wonder if people don't make up wild tales to tell to make you have sympathy for them. I'm just not very trusting of people today.......
Once again, I'm not saying this is true of THIS thread!

I agree with you emmascakes, there is such a thing as etiquette. Perhaps we have been conned so hope Tobinex proves us wrong. Have had "Notify me when a reply is posted" so perhaps I should untick it now. It's been going on for too long.

I personally don't think she has intentionally left us hanging........maybe unlike some of us (myself included) she actually has other interests besides CC- I myself, I could stay logged on all day long! Maybe she will let us know soon how all of this has played out...........

it's possible something happened, maybe her internet is off or down. Maybe she hasn't had much time to get back to the board. I'm sure she will reply when she is able to do so.

Yeah, I would like to still think positive about this myself. If her computer is down she may not be able to reply for weeks. Also, she always popped in here and there to update us, so I can't imagine she would just ditch us all now. There HAS to be a reason. Especially since this board is SOOOOOOO addictive. You can't just cut yourself off like that. Even if you wanted to! LOL!!!

I checked too to see if she's been posting - Nope!!! I agree that this place is too addictive to just drop it and I too hope she is ok.

I meant to add that she hasn't even posted any pictures either!!!! and she hasn't had her profile deleted.

Well, let's send her sugary thoughts and hope that it will sweeten what ever might be happening right now for her. I hope she's just so busy with having taken over the horrid sounding bakery and is now running a fantastic (and hygenic!) business.

****UPDATE**** First of all, I would like to say I'm so sorry it's taken so long to get back with you guys. Here's what happened..... Since the last time I posted, I have had nothing but a "series of unfortunate events". My husband had 2 deaths in the family back to back, he lost his job, we caught a virus on the computer, then our cable co cut off our internet service because someone was using our ip(or some other) address to spam people and so on. I'm not trying to make any excuses or anything, but I thought yall deserved an explanation on where I've been. So, I went to the bakery and asked for my pay(I talked to the husband). Now his wife just looked at me and didn't say a word to me...just turned her nose up. So I'm thinking to myself oh I'm really gonna let loose on them and tell all and call the health dept. He gave me my pay which only averaged out to $7 an hour! Cheap!! After that, I pulled him to the side and told him there's a few things that you need to know....I told him eveything that went on that day but I held back the fact that I was going to call the health dept. because he seemed concerned and was understanding. And also he did inform me that not only did that b*t*h of a decorator got fired but the cashier that kept going MIA was out of there too. So that's what happened. He did try to offer me a job again but I declined. I just don't think I could even set myself up for dissappointment like that again. And I don't know what his wife's problem was but I wouldn't want to deal with her again either. The next time I ever work in a bakery will be my own!!!! icon_biggrin.gif Once again I am sorry it took so long to reply. And for the record, I would not make up a situation like this just for the fun or attention. Got better things to do!

I just skimmed through - OMG what a hassle!

I can agree, I'd probably be pissed too, if I thought I had to train my replacement, but still, it's no excuse for her attitude. The child shouldn't have been there. No ifs ands or buts.

Sorry that you didn't get paid squat and had to go through all that BS. Glad that you cleaned your hands of that place - not worth your time or trouble. Did ya call the health dept?

Sorry for the loss also. Seems like you hit a patch of bad luck there!

So glad we got an update on this! But I'm so sorry to hear of all of your troubles - not your year, huh? I hope your husband's family is doing well and that your cable/internet doesn't get any more viruses - you have virus protection software now,r ight?? I hope so! You can also download adaware - I think it's at adaware.com - it's not the best, but ti's free and it's better than nothing.

Thanks for updating us and I hope things start to go better for you!

Tobinx,

So sorry for your losses and the horrible luck you have had these last few months. Your family will be in my thoughts and prayers. I'm glad you got a "little" compensation for the headaches at that disastrous bakery and you can finally wash your hands of the place. Did you ever call the health dept.??
Best wishes for your decorating future!! icon_smile.gif

What a day you had Sorry. But remember the cakes you saved led to Happy people and thats what matters to them. I think I would have a lil heart to heart with the owner maybe shes unaware things like this go on when shes away or maybe like a previous reply shes looking to get rid of her.( and hopes she can use your experience to get that done.) Some times Ive found Bosses that are mealy mouthed or dont like to say things but she could lose her business and I believe I would tell her that.
Sorry again and hope things work out for you.
Let us know how things go from here.

And what a learning experience this has been, eh?! At least you learned a lot about a bakery - what NOT to do. LOL

I'm glad you stood up for yourself. $7 an hour for a decorator is a CRIME.

I hope your luck is on the upswing. What a bunch of horrible things to happen so close.
