Doing 2 wedding cakes in the same day is just insane LOL .. but we pulled it off ... I've post a pic of each cake in my photos and I'm going to attempt to do them here too ... we began our day at 5:00 a.m. redoing the icing on the 2 red velvet layers of my cake .. the red velvet had bled through .. I had to redo the icing on those ... assembling wasn't too bad .. we finished the first one up about 11:00 a.m... then off to pick up the other one ... we took it to the reception hall and began the assembly of it .. we finished up about 1:00 p.m... both brides loved the cakes ..

1st wedding cake was decorated all in buttercream... bottom layer; 14" round, red velvet with cream cheese filling .. next tier up was 12" round, yellow with bavarian cream filling ... next to the top tier was red velvet again, with cream cheese filling; top tier was yellow with bavarian cream fillling.. neither the bride or groom liked white cake and these flavors where their choice icon_smile.gif cake was decorated with real roses in pink (25 roses total), baby's breath and leather leaf fern icon_smile.gif

2nd wedding cake .... decorated all in buttercream, cake flavor was white... bottom tier was 14" square, next tier was 12" round, next tier was 8 inch square and the top tier was 6" round .. this cake was decorated with star gazer lilies (the look like Rubrum, but they are stargazers) baby's breath and leather leaf fern icon_smile.gif oh, the stargazer lilies are toxic and they were each placed in the Wilton flower spikes so the cake would not be contaminated icon_smile.gif

Our day ended about 2 p.m.... thank God for my sister!! She's a florist and she and I both decorated on these cakes ... we were totally exhausted, but I feel the cakes came out well.. I can see so many flaws in them ... once again, I'm my own worse critic icon_smile.gif

Yes it did Ute.. covered it right up w/no probs .. it was possibly too thin to begin with.. could have been why it bled through like it did.. I'm not really sure though ... in the end, it all turned out fine icon_smile.gif

Hi traci icon_smile.gif

Yes I do groom's cakes too .. however; both of these girls had The Great American Cookie Company do their groom's cakes.. they had them make a double doozie cookie ( a huge one) .. neither of these groom's knew each other yet both had the same idea for a groom's cake LOL .. I told them I could have done them, but they already had them ordered ... I thought it was a really cute idea icon_smile.gif

I haven't made one either. I've seen them before .. I'm sure that they wouldn't be hard to do .. I would have found a recipe to make the center filling between them .. I think they just used a huge round pan like for a pizza to make the cookies in ... or that's what it appears to be to me .. they put the center filling (like an Oreo center filling) and then put the top cookie over that .. that's about it..

Well the smaller version I've eaten from the mall is very yummy ... so I'm sure a larger scale version would be heaven lol

Both of your cakes are abosolutely beautiful!! That was a huge job-two in a single day. But it sounds like you and your sis make a dynamic team! Congratulations to you both! And I love the fresh flowers, too!

I have made cookie cakes before, and I doubled the toll house cookie recipe. I have used round pans as well as sheet pans...and they turned out great. I have never heard of anyone doing that for a groom's cake...but it was a neat idea!

Beautiful! And congrats to you for pulling them both off for the same day. That had to be nerve wracking!

How long do you think it took you altogether?
