Does anyone out there have suggestions on how to arrange flowers on a cake so they don't just look like they are plunked on there. I understand there needs to be height added to give that extra dimension, but mine seem to just look like a bunch of flowers on a mound icon_cry.gif Do any of you have some good trips that you use? Thanks for the help. Kate

Well, it's a little hard to advise you not knowing the size of the cake or the flowers, but my first thought is not to use too many flowers, if you do, the cake gets lost in them.

In order for the flowers not to look like a clump, you will have to cut them apart and apply them either singly or in very small groups. On a tiered cake they are usually kind of wrapped around on the way to the bottom of the cake. Go to Google Images and search for flower arrangements or cakes with flowers and find one that you like and use it as a model.

That's about all I can suggest. Good luck. Janice

When I am doing flowers on the top of a cake , I use wet foam and have it in a tiny crystal bowl and hollow a small spot in the top of the cake to sit it in. I sit down before hand and make my arrangement in the foam till I am happy, then stick it on.

Kayday, is that for fresh flowers? What do you do for fondant, gumpaste or royal flowers? Thanks for the continued help on this.

I should have clarified...sorry. Yes, that was for fresh flowers. With the gumpaste, they are usually wired where they can be kinda bent and arranged like artificial flowers. I never use silk flowers but I imagine they would be similar. Maybe pick up a basic flower arranging book for some ideas?
