I really need some help. My son's birthday is tomorrow and he wants this cake from a cafe close to my house. It is strawberry and it is very heavy. I think it is soaked. His dad thinks it is strawberry amaretto, but all of the recipes that I have found, do not say to soak the cake. The cafe has weird hours, but I am going to call them today and play dumb. Just in case it doesn't work, does anyone have any suggestions? I have searched for two days with no luck. PLEASE HELP ME

If it's a soaked cake, it is probably a sponge or genoise cake.
Soaking a DH or BC box mix cake is usually disasterous, as these batters are not designed to hold moisture.

You can find great sponge or genoise recipes online.

I created my own recipe for a strawberry amaretto cake. I used a genoise for the cake. Then I sliced strawberries and spinkled powder sugar to taste. The sugar draws out the juice. I then took the juice and added approx 3 tablespoons of amaretto and used this as soak to brush on the cake. I placed the strawberries in the middle over a layer of whipped cream custard. Sooooooo good.

No, the genoise is light.
