Is there a way to cancel my member ship? I joined a few weeks ago at the suggestions of an email buddy.

Unfortunately, a comment I made on a cake was taken the wrong way and she was on the recieving end of some comments. She has been very helpful to me as a new cake decorator and always encouraging even telling me about this forum and a couple others.

I've emailed Cake Central but have not recieved a response.

Thank you.

I don't know the answer to your question but I would hate to think of someone leaving because of a missunderstanding!!! The problem with the internet is that you can't hear the emotion in a person's comments so often they are taken the wrong way. Maybe you could explain this to the person who feels offended???
Hopefully this can be worked out without losing a member!

Calm down and let it go - it just isn't important. I wouldn't take anything personally that anyone says or does here. If you get a pm you don't like, block that sender and delete the message. Sometimes people post stuff that is taken the wrong way because without hearing a tone of voice or seeing a facial expression, people interpret incorrectly. In ways you never anticipated. You know what you meant. Let it go and people will forget it all very soon. There lots to learn here.

Don't give up CC just because someone was offended by your comments. It's a great place for inspiration and a good learing tool. There are some fabulous cake decorators here and they are willing to share their knowledge and advice.

I have noticed some folks are offended at times but the way I feel about it, if you don't want someone to give you their honest opinion, then don't set yourself up.

Just apologize to the person offended and keep coming back to the site. I'm sure it will work out just fine.

Ditto what pp's have said. It's so easy to misunderstand and be misunderstood, but they'll be forgotten the next day.

That's a silly reason to want to leave. We all make mistakes and it's easy to read comments with the wrong tone put in to it. Don't get me wrong... I'm not calling you silly. We would all like to see you stay. We're very understanding and forgiving. I'm sure if you explain your tone in your comment that everything will be OK.

Hugsss,

Some people on here are very sensitive and some are very bold. You just have to take everything in stride. Sometimes you just have to not read a thread because it is ridiculous and going no where. If you apologize when you offend someone, you should be all good.

You can learn alot here and get some great ideas. I wouldn't leave.

Why cancel your membership over a misunderstanding? Just clarify or apologize and move on. I have not been on CC long, but already it's given me priceless info and support. I wouldn't even consider canceling my membership. Ultimately, if you really don't want the membership, then just don't visit the site and block any emails.

I was thinking the same thing everyone else has already posted. You did NOT mean to offend anyone, that is obvious by what you said in your post. I would recommend just sending an apology PM to the person who was offended. But don't leave over it, it really is so easy to take offense to something "typed" without seeing the person's face expression or their tone of voice. You did not mean to offend anyone and I don't feel you should leave such a great place as CC over a misunderstanding! I hope you chose to stay!! Jen

I stated the cake was beautiful and then asked a question regarding the *venue* that I thought had shut down. I think that was the remark that offended them, but they never pm'd me. My friend said no to worry about it, but I feel bad I caused such a fuss.

If you said their cake was beautiful, then it really has nothing to do with your comment. Maybe they were just having a bad day. Any photos to show your work? I'd love to see it. Have a great weekend.

Totally off topic, but how did your cake w/ the wrong frosting turn out? Was the bride okay?

Cakeartdiva, I'm on this site everyday while I'm working except for on the weekends. I've read a lot of the hurtful things some people have said
and just to protect my feeling I often just stay behind the scenes and
not comment on things for that reason alone because I don't want to be misunderstood. I felt really bad for that person who was getting slammed because of her grammer and punctuations. But you know it takes all kinds, I'm sure that it was not the first time someone has hurt your feelings or your friends and it won't be the last. You can cancel and separate yourself from this membership but you can't separate yourself from people. Look beyond their fault and be the bigger person. It truly takes a big heart to forgive anybody that thinks they have it all together and move on. I'll tell you the truth, I don't have it all together in the grammar or cake department. I'm sorry you feel the way that you do. I've learned that the person that came up with the phase about "sticks and stone " didn't know what the *#%~ he or she was talking about. WORDS DO HURT ! icon_redface.gif

I have offended people on this site and have gotten a pm from them. I would like to tell you I really cared. I didn't. Everyone is different. I know what to expect from my family and friends, because I know them. I don't really know any of you. I assume your personality over the internet.
Yeah, I say sorry. But that is it. I don't cry about it, let it keep me up or cancel my subscription.

We are all diverse. I don't like the extender recipe, but I put pudding in my mix. I do everything at the last minute. Ask someone else and I bet 100 bucks that they don't like everything I like.

Thanks everyone.

The cake was fine I guess. I haven't heard back from her so I'll worry when and if it happens.

I have to get pictures developed. I haven't bought a digital camera as of yet, so I have a few more pictures before this roll is done.
I'm basically a newbie (less than a year) so I don't have that many GOOD ones to show. Hopefully, these will come out good.

Cakeartdiva,
Don't cancel your membership, I'm sorry for any hurt caused to you. Typing doesn't convey feelings the way words and facial expressions do.. Cake central is a wonderful board and would be terrible if you didn't share in it. Please forgive me if I hurt you in anyway. We can't wait to see your art work!!!
