This probably isn't the correct forum in which to post this question, but I wanted to get the most exposure so I'd have a better chance to get an answer. Does anyone know of a US website where I can purchase Cakes & Sugarcraft magazine? I went online to Squires in England and looked at purchasing 10 back issues of the magazine and a couple of Patchwork Cutters. Shipping was $42.00 American dollars!!!! The order would have come to around $85.00. icon_eek.gif I love this magazine and had purchased a copy years ago in a bookstore but can't find anyplace to buy it now. icon_cry.gif

Thanks,
Sandra

Is this a magazine or booklet? I've seen something with a similar name at a local craft store...gorgeous, but costly! Each booklet runs about $18. I know they specify the Patchwork Cutters.

I haven't been able to find one - and I am forced to pay the high shipping.

The only alternative I know of are people who sell to libraries, etc. When I worked in the library of the culinary school I attended, I was told that they go through one of those companies - otherwise they'd spend a fortune (we got magazines from all over the world). Perhaps you can contact your library and see if they'd be willing to give you a name - or perhaps start carrying the magazine.

Have you tried Amazon? Subscription for this magazine is $73.99 and qualifies for free shipping. I'm not sure about back issues though. HTH.

I checked out this magazine a while back and found that certain Barnes and Nobles and Borders stores carry them. Maybe check with your local ones. I picked up copies of the magazine while in England last month - now I'm waiting for someone to come and visit and bring me some more issues!

Thanks for your responses. GeminiRJ, it is a magazine that are published in England and is a quarterly publication. It is expensive. I have since (by surfing the Web) found that you can get a one-year subscription on Amazon.com for $73.29. That's 4 issues!! icon_eek.gif Of course, the shipping is free. icon_wink.gif

BrandisBaked, that is a good idea about the library. I don't think they have them in Richmond. I've not seen them in the branches I've been to. I can ask, but I doubt that there is the demand for them that would justify carrying something that expensive.

Oh well, maybe I will find them used someplace. They are really nice to look at and have helpful articles and ideas.

Thanks Fooby, julesn20716 and justsweet. I did not see your responses before I posted above.

julesn20716, I will definitely call the Barnes and Noble and Borders to see if they carry them.

I'm going to check ebay and some of the other online sales points.

Libraries can get them much cheaper than we can...

If your local library doesn't/won't carry it - maybe there's a local culinary school that does.

We had people coming in to the library where I worked and copy almost the entire magazine... photo copies were only 5 cents each.

If you want I could send them to you as I buy them myself. I am aware that all these places charge a fortune. What I could do initially is buy a magazine and find out the cost of shipping. In exchange perhaps you could buy items there for me. What do you think?

I used to subscribe directly from Squires for years but my last subscription was from Expressmag (I cancelled mine last October). Call 1877-363-1310. I can't remember off hand how much I paid though.

Expressmag is listed at the back of the magazine as the US and Canadian source.

Lee Ann, we could certainly try that, but wouldn't we run into the same problem with shipping costs? I have never received anything from or sent anything to England. When I checked online at Squires, as I said above, the shipping was horrific! What things would I be able to get for you that you can't get there? By the way, your gumpaste flowers are what I strive to accomplish.

Miriel: Thanks for the number. I'll check it out.

We can give it a go! You seem to have moulds and lots of things we cannot get here......Do not worry if you give me a suppliers web site I can always spend my money on something> I think it would cost roughly £2 to send each magazine! Squires seem to have some king of US arrangements. Have a look on their web site. Good luck but let me know.

I do not know were you can buy a USA subscription. I do know which store you can buy an issue each month but it depends on your city and if that branch carries it. I buy from Joann Fabrics each month, they sell it with  at a 10% discount plus Tax. Sure beats the UK shipping cost, each month.
