I thought it would never happen but someone who saw a cake I donated to the church bake sale ordered a birthday cake for a friend. I am so excited and scared!

Congrats!! thumbs_up.gif
You'll do great! I know the first order is always a little scary, mostly with the figuring out what to charge part, but you'll get past that soon enough. icon_lol.gif

Don't be scared! =) If they ordered after seeing your cake, that means they love your cake! Did they also taste it at the bake sale? That would also be a good sign! =) I remember my first order, which was about 2 years ago, and BOY did I have nerves! I made the cake for my cousins' baby shower & then one of her guests who I had only met in passing, ordered 2 cakes from me for her huge Halloween party, so they had to be decorated - one was a grave yard, and the other was a "surprise wedding cake" - Yes, a wedding cake was part of my very first order! But it was an under water theme, all blue with dolphins & spongebob, so nobody knew it was a wedding cake until the bride & groom showed-up with the preacher......... I'm telling you all this, because there are going to be other people at the birthday party, who probably will want to know where they got the cake & then want to order from you after seeing & tasting your cake - just like the first customer..... so, if you don't have business cards or anything ready - try to print something out, mock a business card - get card stock from the office supply store, or they do have business card paper that can tear apart........ and have "something" available to at least stick on the box, or give to the customer for reference so his/her guests will be able to get your information. Congratulations! You're in business! After that first order, I was SO excited to get 4 cakes per month..... now I'm doing 8-14 per week & am looking for a bakery building! Good luck! =)
