I am making a chocolate cake for the 1st time Sunday morning and want to make a filling to go along with it. I was thinking of a raspberry kaluha recipe I found on this site. Would that go good together? If not is there anything else that is relatively simple to make and tastes good? Also what kind of frosting would I use? I really only know how to make the Wliton Buttercream.
Thank you!!!

That recipe sounds yummy. I also loke to do caramel filling for my chocolate cakes (SUPER easy recipe) and milk chocolate icing...sometimes I crush Heath bars or SKOR bars on top or in the filling for added taste and texture. If you need recipes just PM me and I will get some to you. Welcome to CC! You will love it here!

I love peanut butter filling (gotta watch out for allergies, though) and the Chocolate Syrup Frosting from this site.

Oops . . . . or Nutella! Just use it straight from the jar as a filling. So good.

I liked your fruit suggestion because it taste like you are serving a fruit sauce with your chocolate cake, yum. Raspberries and strawberries are the best with chocolate.

My favorite frosting for a chocolate cake is a chocolate cream cheese frosting, so smooth and taste like you are getting a cheesecake and frosting combined. I always get a "Wow!" with it.

Here is one...

I use an expresso mousse filling. All I do is take a box of Jello Instant Pudding and mix it with 1/2 cup of milk and 1/2 cup of really strong coffee and a tablespoon of kahlue or Baileys. To make the coffee I just put 4-5 coffee scoops in for one cup of coffee (I have a coffee maker that makes one cup). The coffee cuts the sometimes gaggy sweetness of the chocolate. For frosting I would just use ganache. There are tons of recipes for it under recipes. It is basically just hot milk or cream poured over chocolate pieces.
