Hi. I made a 13 x9 cake and put 2 on top of each other and put icing in the middle. I iced the cake but didn't decorate it yet. This morning I looked and had this huge crack along in the middle it looked like an earthquake. icon_eek.gif So now how do I fix it and when can I decorate it. WHat could I have done to avoid it from happening again?
HELP ME PLEASE!!!!!!!!! icon_cry.gif

Were the cakes level before you stacked them? If they weren't, that could cause this. It also might have cracked if the board wasn't strong enough to carry the weight.

If it's a large, open crack...you might want to start over. See if the bottom layer is cracked too. If not, reuse it. Problem with cracks is that if they're large, the crack will reappear even after you decorate the cake just from the board flexing.

If the crack is small/thin...you could try filling it in or patching it up with icing. Make sure the board is strong enough so that the cake won't flex much.

Thanks Lisa. I put icing and kind of squeezed it ever so gently together ( the cake) and it worked.
