My (new) favorite is the wedding cake I made last week for my daughter's bff.  It was my first wedding cake.  I was pretty happy with the result but had been a little nervous.  I've made a few tiered cakes for family birthdays but a wedding is a big deal.  My daughter had more faith in me than I had in myself.  This is my first (and probably only) wedding cake. It was a gift for the bride (my daughter's best friend) & groom. Decorated with a gumpaste vase & gumpaste cherry blossoms. Although the fondant did not want to cooperate in the heat, I think I managed to pull it off in the end.

I have now read through this entire thread and looked at all the awesome pictures! You guys are amazing.

I have such a hard time choosing favorites, but I think I can narrow it down. I did this armored truck cake for my husband to take to work (he works for them). Mud cake and ganache underneath, fondant on top.

This one was Pixar Cars themed, for my son's 2nd birthday. Mater is RKT, the cake was vanilla with oreo chunks and cookies and cream filling--yum!!

Cake for gentleman's 89th birthday. I was told he loved flowers and animals, but I didn't want to have it look too feminine. This is what I came up with. The Lily of the Valley is May's birth month flower. The bark effect is courtesy of my oak tree from which I made a mold. Endemic to Missouri is poison ivy, really a beautiful vine-- albeit definitely not one to touch! As there are obviously no cutters, I drew and cut them and veined with a generic veiner. (I had planned to put a teeny tick down at the base, but got too late and forgot. They are as common as the poison ivy!) The cake is a yellow cake with fresh blackberry curd / whole blackberries. Covered with dark chocolate ganache and white chocolate cheesecake MFF.

I get excited with each new cake I make. But I think this might be my favorite so far. I was told by the daughter that her dad loved flowers and nature in general. I really didn't want to a floral which would look too feminine for a gentleman's 89th birthday. So, stump cake to the rescue. Living here in Missouri, we have a lot of poison ivy so what better to have climbing the stump than that hikers' dreaded scourge? I made a bark impression mold from my own oak tree and free handed the poison ivy. The concession to flowers was the Lily of the Valley which happened to be the birth month flower and his birth month.

This one is one of my favorites, mostly because of the story and the subject matter more so than the actual decorations (it was one of my first, so it definitely has flaws o.O)

Basically, this cake was made for one of my friends house warming, and they were throwing a party themed after the "Batman: Arkham Asylum" video game.  So my concept for the cake was to have each of the villains that Batman has to fight in the game trash a cake that was supposed to be for the warden of Arkham Asylum, as the premise of the game is the villains take over Arkham and trap Batman inside.

Each of the villains is represented in small ways.  Joker, the main baddie, is mainly in the color scheme and the whimsical floating green orbs (as they reminded me of a clown), as well as the front piping, which is a recreation of a phrase that Joker spray pained on a wall in one of the game's advertisements (plus how perfect was it that the phrase happened to work for a house warming?!?).  Harley Quinn was the red and purple card suits.  Killer Croc was the blood stained teeth on the left side.  Scarecrow was the syringe of his Fear Toxin.  Poison Ivy was the creeping vines.  And of course, we have a Batarang front and center, because what would a Batman cake be without Batman saving the day?

This is one of my favorites, It was made for George "Possum" Jones's 80th birthday party, and we got to deliver it and attend his party. He and his wife loved it. She emailed the next day and said "we had possum leg for breakfast",

My next favorite one was made for Tracey Lawrence, and is a toast turkey, he does a turkey fry for Thanksgiving for the Rescue Mission in Nashville Tn every year.Turkey legs and wings are made from cake ball mixture and pretzels all covered with bc. stuffing is cake drizzled with bc and caramel with some brown sugar mixed in.

I have a few favorites but these are two I recently did for my children's Birthday that I really like.

Daughter's 13th Birthday Swag Official Teenager Cake. She found a cake similar on Google and came to me with her basic cake drawing, colors and swag hat request, I then chose the rest and this is what we came up with. The only thing I changed from the drawing was the border on the 1st tier because of time but I wish I would have had time to incorporate the first idea. The swag hat is cake covered in fondant.

AI am so inspired by this site, truly truly amazing cakes on here!! I haven't made many cakes but I feel with each one I do I get slightly better and neater, the thing I struggle with most is covering with fondant and making sure the cakes are level and neat round the bottom this is my favorite so far because its the tidiest one yet!!
