Did They Use Chocolate Ganache?????

I have a request for a groom's cake. It is a two tiered stacked cake. My question is about the icing. The picture the bride to be gave me isn't very good and of course she didn't have any instructions, but it looks like a white cake ( I assume iced with something) and over the top is some sort of glaze or something that has been poured to give the look of it just running down the cake, did that make any sense??? The glaze on top looks fairly thick and shiny.Someone told me that is was chocolate ganache. I have no idea and since this site is filled with so many wonderful and knowledgable decorators, I was hoping that someone could help me.
Thank,
Rhonda
Here is the recipe that I use. I found it in the recipe section.

Is this the look you're going for? I use chocolate ganache that's been cooled down, but still pourable. I make my ganache with less heavy cream than normal, so it's thicker. Then I put in a pastry bag and pipe slowly around the top edge of the cake adding more in certain areas so that it drops lower. It's pretty simple, but I guess easier to do than explain.
Reecie, the recipe you gave link to calls for cream, but my question is: what kind of cream? 12% 30% or 45% or it doesn't matter?

I was going to ask the same question. I want to make this for a chocolate cake with cookies and cream filling but I wasn't sure what kind of cream. Also what kind of chocolate. Is it chocolate chips or something else?
