This was my first bridal shower cake and my first real set up/display. I did this for my sister's bridal shower. I used 2 yards of (inexpensive icon_wink.gif ) white satin sprinkled with lavendar petals around the cake. To the right are a sampling of the sugar cookie cakes (martha stewart) that I made for the shower favors. The bride doll is one that my mother bought (has red hair just like my sister) and the flowers are what we used as centerpieces on the tables. I still need a lot of practice with fondant and getting the cakes level. I can't seem to get that nice "crisp" look that so many here achieve. icon_confused.gif Practice, Practice, Practice. icon_lol.gif Overall, I was pretty happy. Constructive criticism is appreciated, thanks.

Wow. What a stunning cake. If there are any flaws, be assured that you are the ONLY one who could see them because I think it looks perfect.

Your cookie cakes look yummy, your cake is BEAUITFUL (love the lace) and your overall setup looks great. I would only lose the white chairs against the back wall for pictures. I am saving your cake pic to my favorites for future inspiration. Thanks! You did great!!

Yes.....your whole set-up was great. I especially love your cookie cakes. Did you make the cookies yourself and if so how did you get them so perfect? I want to make large cookies to sell and haven't figured out how to make the cookies large wothout them looking unpresentable. Also where did you get the boxes for the cookies? thumbs_up.gif

Thank you to everyone for all of the compliments!! Let me assure you, the camera has hidden many flaws, but I truly appreciate your kind words! So uplifting. Between the cake, cookies and everything else for the shower, it got very stressful! icon_confused.gif

cakemommy and MissJ - I got the boxes at www.papermart.com. My cookies have gotten much better recently. I don't have silpat liners yet (soon, I hope icon_biggrin.gif) but, I've been using parchment paper. I roll out the dough right on the parchment paper, use the cutters, peel off the dough around the shapes and slide the parchment paper right onto the cookie sheet. I then place the cookie sheet in the freezer for at least 15 mins. before I put them in the oven. I have to thank antonia74 and Martha Stewart's sugar cookie cake instructions for this method. What a difference it has made for me!

CarolAnn - I meant to move the chair and take another picture but, it got so hectic. Of course, I forgot about it until I uploaded the picture. icon_cry.gif Oh well.

Wow, it looks gorgeous. I wish I knew how to do a "table-scape" so to speak. I just can't visualize it in my mind.

Looks great! I would've lost the chair and centered the table with the background, but I'm weird that way icon_smile.gif The cookies are a very cute idea too. I'll have to file that away in my mental rolodex for future reference.

It is absolutely lovely...the cake, the cookies, the set up...I love the way the cookies are tiered to look like a cake!
My thought about us being our own worst critics...if anyone says anything negative, they don't get to eat any cake!

Thank you everyone. You are all so kind!! I can't wait to make another cake like this one, and/or the cookie favors. I can't say that I'm in a hurry to do both for the same day again, though. icon_lol.gif But, I highly doubt I would be able to say no either. icon_confused.gificon_biggrin.gif

Thank you for the compliments. icon_redface.gificon_biggrin.gif They are definitely a boost to my confidence. I know we are our own worst critics but, I know there is so much room for improvement. My sister wanted me to make her wedding cake, but unfortunately, I said I couldn't. We just moved to a new house in a new state (our closing wasn't supposed to be until mid July) and I'm in the wedding. I didn't think I could pull it off. Fortunately, a friend of my mom's makes cakes as well and offered to make it and said I could help if I wanted to.

Thank you again, you are all so kind!!
