How early/in advance can I color my rolled fondant? I need a cake for Sunday and want to color my pieces but I did not know how far in advance I can use this without fading.
Can someone post a picture of what rolled buttercream looks like? Thank ladies. You have proven to be so helpful to me.
I took the wilton classes. 12 weeks of cake made my dh sick of cake. I took them almost 4 years ago. I only did traditional buttercream. I have ventured off to use mmf and the luster dust. I want going to try a frozen buttercream transfer soon.
You can color your fondant whenever you want to but sotorage is the thing to worry about. I thing if you have it wrapped in seran wrap (tightly) and then tightly in a ziploc bag it should keep from drying out.
I haven't yet worked w/ rolled BC but I've seen a few cakes done with it. They look really nice, the only difference I've seen though is they have a shinny appearance compared to the matte finish of regular fondant.
maybe I should have been more clear. I am using the rolled fondant and drying it. I will be applying gold luster dust. How long does the gold last?
Sorry, I misunderstood the question. I think you have to put the gold on while the fondant is still a little soft (someone correct me if I'm wrong). Once its one it lasts a very long time, I dont' think it will fade in the time that you have to deliver the cake
Hi
this is the cake I made using a lot of Gold Dust.
Use VOdka or ALmond Extract top make Gold Paint

You got it! You can dry brush on the dust while the fondant is still soft and a little moist. The gold won't fade.
