When coloring my icing, I just take my little bottle of color and squeeze it right into my bowl of icing. If I'm combining colors to make a new color, I take a 2nd little bottle of color and squeeze that right into the same bowl of icing. Mix it up...and there you go. When I read my "official coloring chart" from Americolor - it says to always mix a small amount of the base color with the 2nd color and then add it to the large bowl. (or something like that?). I was wondering how everyone else colors their icing? To tell you the truth, I'm not always so good at reaching my desired color. I'm best at just using the one color - the color that is marked on the bottle! If I want it light - I barely use any color. If I want it darker - I squeeze a bunch in! Voila! Is there some tips I should know? I want to start being creative with my colors.

Great question. I often use a drop of one color and then open the top of the second color and use a toothpick to dip in for a smidge of the second color. Then I decide to "tweak" the color and usually ruin the whole batch. icon_cry.gif (I am definitely color-challenged.)

Let's see....with royal icing (which is the icing I use) I use the darkest color first when mixing. My thinking, is that it helps set a base tone to the icing. This is my crazy logic at 1 in the morning.lol.

I also just squeeze from the bottle, or use a toothpick. (and add a little chant that the color will be the right shade!) icon_rolleyes.gif
