sorry for the dumb question , but what is non instant vanilla pudding mix

non-instant would be the kind of pudding that you have to cook. It doesn't take that long, maybe 5 minutes?

Non Instant has to be cooked on top of the stove or in the micorwave. Instant is put into the bowl and combined and stirred with whisked with milk for a few minutes no heat involved.

the pie calls for non instant pudding do u think i can get away with instant pudding

I wouldn't, instant pudding doesn't set up like non-instant. It would be too runny.

If you want a thicker instant pudding, use less milk by at least 1/2 cup...there should be directions on the box of instant that are for pudding pies what to do.
