I have been asked to make a ballerina cake, not your typical with the shoes. I made a couple of barbie cakes for this little girl in the past so I think that is what the mom is envisioning.
Any thoughts? Suggestions? Help!
Wow. This brings up lots of ideas well beyond the realm of what I can do. If you are good with fondant, gumpast, and sculpting, what about a studio with the wood flooring and a bar and a ballerina with a leg up on the bar and another ballerina twirling? Or some kind of Swan Lake theme with a ballerina dancing around a swan?
I saw some of your beautiful Barbie cakes in your photos! What if you made a Barbie cake kind of like that with the wondermold. But instead of making a long dress, you made a tutu from fondant and made the legs from fondant along the wondermold in a ballerina position ( I don't know them but I've heard of 1st position, 5th position etc.). Or maybe you could make a large round cake with the 6 in. round on top to have the depth to stick the doll in and use the 6 in. to make the tutu all frilly on, and then make it so she is like doing the splits with the fondant legs extended out on the bottom cake? I wish I could do drawings on here; sorry-I'm too mokey pawed w/ the computer
Thank you both for your suggestions, great ideas! I will see what happens tomorrow when I start in on the project.
I am very new to cake baking and decorating so talent is limited indeed. Should be fun though!
I know you'll do something great. I just looked at your photos again right now and that seems like some natural talent if your new! The cakes were fantastic! Be sure and post the pix when you're done... I can't wait to see
Thanks, well pictures are posted. The cake of course did not meet my vision. Such as life! It tastes good and she is 3 and I learned from this insane mess...
