I would like to make strawberry buttercream today for a cake. Do I use fresh strawberries or gelatin to a buttercream recipe I have? I would like to leave it out of the refrigerator. Thanks

Here's a recipe that I found

STRAWBERRY ICING:

Combine 1/4 cup butter, softened, and 1 pound confectioners' sugar, add 1/3 to 1/2 cup strawberry juice until desired spreading consistency. Beat until creamy

From looking at this recipe, it seems like you could use your favorite buttercream and add strawberry extract and or strawberry juice.

I hope this helps.

When I make strawberrry buttercream, I simply add strawberry flavor instead of vanilla. The amount I add depends on the taste. It doesn't take much of my Lorrann's strawberry flavor. I also chop up fresh strawberries and mix it in with the buttercream.

I made a strawberry buttercream by substituting strawberry flavoring for 1 tsp of vanilla extract using Dawn's recipe. Everyone loved it because the flavoring was not overwhelming.

Thank you so much. I am making it tonight. I do not have extract so I will use fresh strawberries in the buttercream.
