I am so proud of my room my husband built me that I had to share, He finished it for Christmas, we have an unfinished basement, he said he had to do my room first to get all my *&^^%%%$(# out of it. The first pix shows my shelving and big table (it has outlets underneath the table so I dont have to run cords across the room) and then my wall where I hang all my stuff. The opposite wall that isnt shown has cabinets and a sink. This is MY ROOM. Has a lock on the door and everything. It is also always cool and a excellent place to decorate cakes. The long top shelf in the picture is holding Christmas presents in the picture but is great for storing large orders. Im a happy camper!

What a nice husband of yours. I'm lucky enough that I can still most of my stuff in my kitchen yet (I have a big kitchen with LOTS of cupboard space)

icon_biggrin.gif LUCKY, LUCKY, LUCKY!!!!!!!! thanks for showing us your cool room!
i am in the process of getting a "cake room" in my basement, but it will be many months before its finished. i love your shelving!!!!!! i have a small kitchen area, then a small room attached for storage, i think i am going to have to check out your shelves and get me some!!!!!!! i think i will print out your pictures and show hubby....i think he will like them, because he hates things out of order, and my whole room down their is out of order, hahaha, that would help me be organized....something that i am not. haha
since you have your own cake room with doors that lock, you can get a liscence and be LEGAL, which means you can advertise!!!!!!

WOW, how wonderful!! I kidded my husband and told him he just needed to start lining up portable buildings, side by side, on the back part of our two acres....I want one building for all my scrpbooking stuff.....I have enough for an entire room, one for cake decorating, I'm quickly running out of space for all my pans , etc., and one for my sewing and other general crafts stuff. I think he actually thought about it for a whole minute icon_lol.gificon_lol.gif , but then he said if he did that, he'd never see me! icon_lol.gif

So you bake the cake upstairs, and travel downstairs with it? Next you need an oven down there!!! (Unless you already have one?)
I like your groovy tricycle looking things in the corner, hee hee.... Do you drive them around when you are trying to get inspired? hee hee....GET EM OUT OF YOUR ROOM!!! hahahahah!!!! Just joking with you!!!! hee heeee!!!! I don't think mom's are entitled to a room ALL TO THEMSELVES...I think that was written in the children's handbook! hee hee!!!
I am just joking around with you.
I am not jealous, I am genuinely happy for such an obvious blessing you have received! You have a wonderful husband to honor you in that way! He is looking out for your interests and that is absolutely fantastic! GOOD FOR YOU!!!!!!!!!
Thanks for allowing us in your room! ;o)

Thanx guys, I am just so proud of my husband, the trikes were Christmas gifts for my 2 3yo boys and hidden in my room. Although I would love to do this full time, after much thought. I love cake decorating as a passionate hobby, I think if I did it full time it would take the joy out of it for me. I bake upstairs, since I do not desire a business per say I didnt have him put a stove in.
I still cant use my room as much as I like, since the rest of the basement is trashed, I cant bring the boys downstairs while I decorate, I still have to do alot upstairs to keep my eyes (incl the ones in the back of my head) on them, mostly decorate after they are in bed.
Man I should post some kid cake disaster stories. Ive got em. The whole point of the lock.

I'm just GREEN with envy!

A lock and everything?!?! Man--you are SO lucky! I would kill for a room like that.

As it is, my cake stuff is in a box and my scrapbooking stuff is in all the totes and my bead stuff is in another box, my cross stitch is in various sewing bags. OH to have a room like that--it's my dream!

Congrats--it's beautiful!

Thank you so much for sharing! You've given me some great ideas for things to do with the unfinished part of my basement! My passions are henna, beading, cakes of course *g*, and Tarot, as well as sewing, painting, and calligraphy on the side. That kind of setup would be excellent for henna classes!

Hmm... double French glass doors would rock between the family room and *my* room... but now I'm confused! Basement, or garage? I could have skylights since the garage would need to be reroofed...

I wonder if there's a medication that would *reduce* creative urges - I have neither the time nor money for all of my creative outlets! icon_biggrin.gif

Thanks again, gilpnh!

hmmm, I'd think I'd get a bigger trike set just so you could ride around down there for inspiring ideas..LOL!

This is great! I am showing my hubby this maybe it will give him the kick needed to get started on mine. I love all the storage space you got! Sure beats having cake pans in boxes and stuff crammed wherever it will fit, like me! icon_smile.gif Very nice and I am sure it will get a lot of use.

I wish I could have something like that too.... around here you have to get a permit to do anything and everything to your home...ugh...I have a big kitchen ...but I'm out of room for my things... I have stuff here and there and then I have to go hunting when I need something...ugh...what a pain it is.... I wish you the best and happiest times decorating in your room...

that really gave me some great ideas! i can't wait till my fiance gets home from work so i can tell him that i want the storage room downstairs turned into a cake room! i was thinking of adding onto the garage but we really don't have a lot of yard to do that and the garage isn't too big to put anything out there... i just need a place where i can put everything... i would probably still bake upstairs... unless i could find a cheap stove somewhere... hmmm...
