I just made a batch of the Chocolate Syrup Frosting posted in the recipes section. It's VERY chocolatey & nice and brown (unlike the pale chocolate buttercreams I've used before). I haven't piped with it yet, so I can't speak to that, but it seems like a winner.

My favorite is Bitter Sweet Chocolate Frosting. I use it all the time. Very Chocolatey with 6 ounces of Unsweetened Chocolate and 3 ounces of Semi-sweet chocolate... Soooo yummy. And it looks so dark and rich too. I'll post a pic of it icon_smile.gif If you want the recipe I have it posted here on CC.

My fav came from Family Circle magazine this year...it is heavenly and has a nice brown color...I'll post one of the cakes in my photos.

Chocolate Fudge Frosting
4 oz unsweetened choc, broken up
1/2 c shortening
1/2 c unsalted butter, softened
1/4 c sour cream
1/3 c milk
2 t vanilla
1/4 t salt
1 lb. (4 c) powdered sugar
1/2 c cocoa powder

1.  In a small glass bowl, melt chocolate in microwave on hi for 1 min. Stir until smooth. Set aside.
2.  Beat shortening, butter, sour cream, milk, vanilla, salt, 1 c of the sugar and the cocoa powder in a med bowl until creamy.
3.  Gradually beat in remaining sugar and melted chocolate until thick and smooth.
4.  Keep refridgerated, let warm to room temp & whip before frosting cake.

Will frost a 3 layer 9 cake.

I love the Chocolate Syrup Frosting. It is awesome, very thick and fudgy. The Hersheys Perfectly Chocolate frosting is very good too. I remember that one being more creamy. Both very good. I haven't made the Hersheys one in years, but I do remember I really liked it. Now all I make is the Chocolate Syrup one.
