I put this under general because I have been searching for several days through diffrent posts and I want everyone to see this. I'm looking for the perfect white cake. I have looked in recipes and tried the search feature but don't come up with much, so now I'm turning to you. I have tried three white cake recipes in three days. So now I want to know what you use. What is your favorite? Do you use a doctored up mix or start from scartch... bring out your recipes and help a girl out! Thanks so much!
Betty Crocker is the best white and then you doctor it how you want to .. She has knock on wood never failed me..
Duncan Hines Moist Deluxe and I add 2 tbls. merinque powder per mix. I always get a moist "fluffy" cake that is very easy to work with.

I have only used DH for white cake and I add a bit of meringue powder (about 1 tsp.) and 1 t. vanilla.
Honestly, I can't stand white cake--it is generally tastless to me, so I usually either try and get the client to go for a butter cake or a really strong flavored filling so the cake tastes OK. For the most part--the butter cake wins.

If your wanting to bake a cake from scratch, I just recently tried making the white cake II recipe that I got from the recipes of this site. My husband and I loved it! We thought it tasted just like our wedding cake which we loved! good luck
I posted a white cake recipe on this site (perhaps the one you tried, newbiecakemaker??), called Classic White Cake II. It's one I got from a recipe swap forum I go on.... It turned out great for me, so moist, fluffy and delicious.

I'm so glad you liked it! I feel like all I do is ask questions and never have anything to give back to the site, so it's nice to be able to have something to share, lol.
