Does anyone have a good creamy cinnamon roll icing that either doesn't require cream cheese or requires very little? I'm looking for a good spreadable icing that doesn't have a cream cheesy taste!!!!!

Thank you so much for any suggestions!!!!!

I use basically a buttercream. Its slightly different though.

1/4 cup butter
2 cups powdered sugar
4 Tablespoons milk(or cream)
1/2 teaspoon vanilla

Beat butter until fluffy and creamy. Alternately add sugar and milk while continuing to beat. Add only enough milk to be desired consistency. Add the vanilla.

I got that recipe from an old Good Housekeeping Cook Book that my mom has. She has had it for years and the front/back cover have long been gone so I can't see how old the thing is. The funniest thing is the frostings section all the pages are covered in sugar, butter, chocolate, etc stains.

Thank you for the recipe! That sounds like just what my taste buds are yearning for.

I have a recipe book like that, with the splatters all over. It's a recipe book that my Grandmother gave my Mother for Christmas back in 1974. She wrote family favorites in it and then my mother had since added more and even stuffed in some recipes she cut out. I have always loved that book!!!!! I love the smell of it the most. I don't know why, it just smelled so good! My mother told me that I couldn't have that book until she was "dead and gone"! Well, she passed away in 2002 sooooooooo..............I TOOK IT!!!!!!! I have rifled through every page many many a time and saw the recipes I used to eat a lot as a kid growing up. I knew they were the recipes because of all the splatters and rewrites on the pages. I always told my mother that she had to bequeath that book to me!!!!! It is my most precious posession of hers!!!!!

Again, thank you for the recipe!!!!!
