I think I saw on this forum or maybe not a brief description on how to airbrush clouds on a cake using ripped paper towel as a stencil. If anyone has done this can you share with me how to do it....I need to make clouds for a Thomas the tank slab cake and I'm not sure how.

Thanks

I have seen this in one of my books.....looks really neat. I'll have to dig through them.

I tried this effect a while back and it was my first try but if you look in my photos theres a baby shower cake that I did with that effect. I didnt' have viva paper towels to smooth my cake so the pattern showed which lessened the effect but anyway.... i tried! icon_smile.gif

I took two paper towels (attached) and ripped across in a bumpy shape like clouds would be and layed it across the cake ...then I used the wilton color mist and sprayed, above the ripped side then you move the paper towel down a bit and spray some more....

The paper towel covers most of the cake and when you spray only a little gets coloured...as you move the paper towel down and keep spraying you'll get the effect. The directions for this technique are actually in the 2005 or 2006 yearbook. That might help you a bit more....

HTH.
