I have to do a cake for a boy who is turning 18 Saturday. The mom said the only thing he is really into is bull riding and wanted something with that. I don't know anything about bull riding, so was hoping some of my good friends here at CC could help icon_lol.gif !! Thanks!!

what if you did just a regular sheet or round cake, used that tutorial on how to make a cowboy hat and make a fondant rope and maybe place a real bandana on the cake into a cute grouping? Then you don't have to actually make a bull or a saddle? Its still pretty much rodeo themed... icon_smile.gif

My favorite bull cake is in the Collette's Birthday cakes book. It has the bull's skull in a desert setting. I thought it was VERY cool! I planned to try to make this for my son's birthday, but I was going to cheat and make a cookie cake and then make the skull out of molded rice krispies and then cover it in fondant. It might be worth checking out. Perfect cake for an 18 yr old!!!!

I would say putting a silloette of a bull and rider on the cake would work. If you are wanting to do something 3-D - a possibility would be making a bucking chute with the bull and rider still in the chute and another cowboy on the outside ready to pull the rope to open the gate. The cowboy on the bull would have one hand in the rope around the bulls middle(behind the front leg) and the other hand up over his head - cowboy hat would be pulled down tight. The chute is just big enough to fit the bull into and has a slate front gate. IF you really want to go to town - put a rodeo clown in a barrel outside of the gate.

If you go with something like Everlastingsweets suggested for the rope make it a bull rope - which is a thick rope with a cow bell in the middle that will hang under the bull.

Good luck this would be a fun cake to make. Google bull riding images and see what comes up. Sorry so long but HTH.

Thanks everyone for your help. I gave the mom these suggestions and some others that I saw and thought of and she wants to go with a 2 tier stacked round cake. The tiers are to look like bandanas with bull riding gear all around the cake and a big 18 on the top with a silhouette of a bull rider in front of it. I'll let you all know how it turns out. Wish me luck!!! cowboy.gif

I have a problem with finding a picture of a bull rider to use for a sheet cake. Does anyone have any suggestions where I could get a picture that I could use? This is for graduation but the young man loves to ride bulls so the Mom wants a bull rider on the cake.
Please help!!!
Thanks.

Go to google images and type in "bull rider silhouette" - I came up with tons of them you could use and easy. If you don't want the silhouettes just type in bull riders
