Solution for being top heavy. If you use the clay pots, hot glue the catch basin the bottom. That should solve this. I am loving this idea!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I'm voting Cambo (Cammie) into the members spotlight! Not only is she creative, generous with her knowledge and ideas, she has personaly been there to rescue me from myself. icon_lol.gif She definately goes over and beyond for us here at CC. Hat's off to Cambo!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! icon_biggrin.gif

I just went to nominate Cambo, and it wouldn't let me. Why? Because I already did recently!

Yesterday at Michaels I found a cupcake decorating kit by Wilton. It was around $8, but with coupon ended up being less than $5. It has the long tip to inject filling into the cupcake, tips 12, 22, and 1M. I know several decorators have had trouble finding the 1M tip, so this could be a possible solution. It's a very nice kit.

Thanks so much for the heads-up. I've been serching for that darn 1M tip for the longest time. Now I have to go dig out my Michaels coupon and hit the store. Thanks again.

I don't know if this will help since I ahven't made any yet, but I just came across these boxes....
"NEW! Cupcake Bouquet Box" on http://www.sugarcraft.com/
They are a bit pricey though.

I usually find the little buckets at Walmart. They have different colors in their special holiday sections on Valentine's Day, Easter, etc. I always buy them out the day after a holiday when they are half price.

Yes, I've seen them at the store (I don't live far from there), but they're too narrow.....they are made specifically for those new cupcake bouquet "cuplike things" that hold your cupcake on a stick.

Cambo-
I like both sizes. And I think the prices you quoted are great. I've made the bouquets w/plastic cups, but think this is such a lovely presentation with the flower pots. Just to clarify, you just use a styrofoam ball the same size as your pot and stick it as far as you can in to the post to secure it? Sounds simple ...I'm off to buy pots and syrofoam.
Thanks!!!!

Hey darlin! What size are the pails at Target? I've been asked to make cookies for the local dance school for their review and I think I'll put them in white pails with different colored ribbon!

I'm new here so please bear with me...

You guys are awesome! Especially Cambo. I made a bouquet as soon as I saw the ones here. I didn't have all of the supplies but I improvised. I am anticipating a bunch of orders for this. I saw Cambo's post saying she is charging $20 per bouquet. Is that for a seven cc bouquet? I also need help pricing the smaller bouquet. I made a bouquet with seven mini cc's in a three inch pot. Any thoughts on price? I think I tend to under price everything. Oh yeah, I also have "edible grass" (from Easter) to place in the bottom instead of paper shreds. One more question, how are you covering these to transport them? Thanks ladies.

twooten173...your bouquet turned out great! I'm charging only $20 for a 7-8 cc bouquet...I'm sure I could get more, but see no point as my profit margin is already so high at $20....might do $25 icon_lol.gif

If you read up a little more in this thread....there are several good suggestions for covering/transporting them!

I had been considering making a cupcake bouquet for mother's day. Now that I see these great ideas, I will definitely try it. I was thinking chocolate cupcakes would help make it look like the flowers were planted in soil. Also, I love the idea of using more than one color in the bag when decorating!

I saw the pails at target in the dollar section. Did they seem a little light to use? I bought the dollar ceramic pots instead.

hello..

This is my first post and I must say, I LOVE this idea. I tried one yesterday but had problems with the cupcakes being too heavy for the toothpicks.

Question...do you put the paper shreds around the foam before placing the cupcakes on the toothpicks? Also, I purchased my pails from Old Time Pottery. They were 6'' and I used a 6'' foam ball....

I bought a pail from ol' Walmart for 98¢ and the styrofoam ball was $2.88 icon_confused.gif Can you cut the ball in half and put something else underneath for support?

Twooten your bouquet came out really nice

Old Time Pottery is a great place for containers for these. They also have styrofoam and some cake decorating supplies. (for people who don't know about this place, they are pretty cheap too.)

Hey Cammie.. not for nothing, but Dallas Foam makes custom foam shapes.. their site says "if you can draw, it we can make it!". Maybe they could make an O shaped form that will fit snug around most 4" pots and stick out a few inches from the sides.. might be worth looking into if you are going to make them a lot. No idea what it would cost, but they are so inexpensive for most things.. icon_biggrin.gif you might be able to get a square for the bottom too that has a hollowed out area for the pot to sit. Just another idea..

That's a great idea....I'll have to consider that!

UPDATE: I went to Hobby Lobby today and looked for the "twirly twig" things to use to accent the bouquet and serve the purpose of keeping the cellophane off the cupcakes....let's just say "WAY TOO EXPENSIVE".....I also looked at larger "disposable" liners to affix the pots to so I can pull the cellophone up over it....and I don't think the cellphone will cover it all....I'm checking one more place to see if I can find a large roll of cello!

OMG....MAJOR FIND FOR CUPCAKE BOUQUETS!!!!

As I mentioned earlier, I was at Hobby Lobby earlier today and found some wonderful craft sticks and a 1/2 styrofoam ball! The sticks were back where the bags of popsicle sticks hang...and they're only $2.99 for a bag of 750! That's less than 1/2 cent each! They're also shaped "flat" and the cupcakes really hang on well! I also found 1/2 styrofoam balls and they were only $.87 each! They also had a pack of two 4" balls for only $2.47....but that's still not even close to $.87 for a 1/2! I bought all that they had! I just tried it and it works beautifully!

Below are pics of everything....hope you find them at your local HL as well!

Also....I asked the store manager if she thought the craft sticks were ok for food....she called the freak'n manufacturer for me (and after a 1/2 hour wait) THEY ARE! They specifically state "non-toxic" on the package and the manufacturer stated they are the exact same grade as popsicle sticks and toothpicks....entirely safe!

I found a large roll of cellophane at Michaels, it was $9.99. I didn't buy it; however, they did have small and medium cellophane bags that are used for gift baskets and such. The small was $1.99 for 2 and the medium was $4.99 for 12. I bought the medium and figured that I could just cut it down in size if need be.

HTH.
