...has anyone done it?

I know that some bakeries ship their cakes around the country. Does anyone know which postal carriers deliver cakes? Can you offer any suggestions for packing, etc.? I had an idea to ship a cake to out-of-state family. Now I need some reality to see if it is feasible.

This has been reviewed several times. Unless you can accompany the cake on the plane, there is no real way to ship a decorated cake.

Fondant covered simple cakes can make it, if it is tightly packed then carefully boxed. Undecorated cakes can do fine.
