I'm going to make the mystery van from Scooby Doo for a friend's son. I already have a picture of how I want it to look and browsed through the gallery here to see what others have done.

This picture is probably the most representative of how mine will end up looking, but I'm just wondering...... HOW DO YOU CUT THIS BEAST?!?!?

I'm assuming it's 4 or 5 layers. There's probably some kind of cardboard and maybe some dowels in there somewhere for support.

Do you just pull off the whole top of the van to cut it. I don't know, I just can wrap my brain around the concept.

Thanks!

I have to admit, I am not quite sure what advice i can give you. You might want to PM the person that made it, they might be able to tell you exactly what they did and how it was served.

By looking at it I would probably cut the whole thing horizontally down the middle, then cube the top layer first, then when the top is done cube the bottom.......just a thought.

Have you considered after the ooohhhs, the aaaahhhs, the wows and the first cut, to maybe lay it flat and cut it like you would a sheet cake? (doesn't sound easy to do I know, just a suggestion).

I made this cake and did not use any dowels or supoprt. We did go to the birthday party of the boy and we just cut it in thin slices and halved them. It would out just fine. I used one 9X13 and cut it into quarters and stacked it. So it was four layers. Good luck!
