I need to bake my grandson's birthday cake next week and need some ideas and help...I want to do a water slide. Can some of you great decorators help me. I would like to do a 3D slide but I have never done any kind of carving. I usually do simple. Thanks in advance for all of you help and ideas.

if its gonna be a water slide basically going straight down, you could try using a cut out cookie covered in fondant/ and piping gel for the water

What has happened to some of the pictures that were in the gallery? krystalp sent me some links to some water slide cakes that I looked at and know they were there but now they are gone. Is it my computer or are they really gone?

I clicked on the links and they didn't have the pix there for me, either. I don't think it's your computer.
Anyway, I was thinking what if you did a sheet cake but then also had a six in. round (double layer) or an 8 in. round cut in half and stacked on top of the sheet cake. Make your "slide" from fondant/gumpaste and just have it go down from the stacked cake to the sheet. Cover with blue piping gel like EricaT suggested. You could make a fondant figure of your grandson at the top of the "slide" (actually on the stacked cakes) and you still have room for the message on the rest of the sheet cake. Hope I helped a little bit icon_smile.gif

hmmmm....Maybe those pics got deleted or moved or ??? Anyways, do a search in the gallery... just type in "slide". There aren't as many there as the last time, but still some good ideas.
