I know this must sound really dumb but about how long could daughters wedding cake be out side in the food tent before it has a melt down? It will be fondant covered but with snow white and royal frosting accents? This will be in August and our temps can get pretty nice and hot. I invision seeing all the ruflles melting and everything becoming a huge melting mess. Trying to figure out the best way to do all this.
What advice do you have for a cake outside? Any advice would be much appreciated
HI
I AM FROM NEWF. ORIGIONALLY. DEPENDING ON THE THE WEATHER,IT CAN VARY. MY SUGGESTION IS TO HAVE THE CAKE SET UP NOT TOO LONG BEFORE THEY ARE GOING TO CUT IT. IT IS SO HARD TO GUESS WHEN HUMIDITY IS IN PLAY.
HOW BIG IS IT, # OF TIERS, ETC..
I HAVE A WEDDING CAKE NEXT MONTH IN TEXAS, OUTSIDE, IF YOU CAN BELIEVE IT. I TOLD MY BRIDE THAT I WILL DELIVER AS THEY ARE SAYING I DO AND THEY MUST CUT IMMEDIATELY. IT WILL BE FONDANT COVERED, BUT IT WON'T LAST DOWN HERE.
DON'T REALLY KNOW IF THIS HELPED MUCH
BESTEST,
DAWN
Thanks birdlady...Newf. is fairly close to our temps in the summer. Originally we wanted to have the cake just sitting at the food tables but now I am thinking we would be better off to try and bring it out when they are to cut it. I could probably keep it in the basement to keep cooler. It will be two tiers and fondant covered. If you look for my thread final practice cake #5 you will see what it will look like. Gonna be a challenge to carry it out I just know it. I don't know what else I could do.
Thanks for the advice, everyone on here is so full of imformation and so helpful

Why don't you make a dummy cake to display and then have sheet cakes in the kitchen to serve. The dummy cake will be right as rain. Nothing at all will happen to it, and if you use bought fondant, it will be fine in the heat (i recommend FondX). It wont melt.
cheers
