Do any of you know of a lighter frosting that i can do all decorations with? Ive only ever tryed buttercream, and its getting to be a little much, id like to try something new, maybe with cool whip or something in it.

If it's too light, decorations won't hold. You can experiment with Pastry Pride; it's a non-diary whipping cream that can sit out.

yes, Pastry Pride is good for this. There is Pastry Pride and Frosting Pride. Get the one that says for frosting and filling. The other won't hold up will for decs.

How about using a couple of tbsp. of Karo syrup to whip up the buttercream to get it to a more fluffy consistency that you are looking for? Seems like it would work well.
