Hi Ya'll,

Well I finally had to try to make the MMF. Melted the mm with 2 tbs h2o over a hot bowl of h2o. Sifted 2lbs of powdered sugar. Started mixing with the paddle, switched to the hook then kneeded by hand. Reciept says it should not be sticky--added a little more sugar, and a little more and a little more. (hands hurt now) It is only sticky inside the big ball. not on the outside. I have it in 2 zip bags to rest for the 24 hours.

Did I do it right??? It realy only sticks a little on the inside. Do I need more sugar or wait and see?

I hated Wilton 3--bad instructor, so I am really hoping that I can figure this out. All of your work is so nice. I am determined to do this right, before I move on to gumpaste.

Thanks for your advice!
Charli

After it rests, if it is still sticky, it will need a bit more powdered sugar.

use a sifter...grease your work surface with a bit of shortening. Roll or press out the fondant, sprinkle on just a bit of sugar and knead it.

If it is too hard to roll, flatten it some and put it in the microwave on medium for a few seconds at a time. Be careful-hot mm burn.

If the fondant is sticky, when you try to put it on the cake, it will stick to the rolling surface and won't transfer to the cake smoothly.

Thank you!

I have roses! Little roses but they are roses! Yellow roses! I am so happy!

How do I get them bigger?

Thank you!

Congrats! Sounds like you got it right the first time.

For bigger roses, you need bigger cutters. You CAN also cut out the petals and roll them thinner, which makes them bigger...but you may find them hard to handle if they're thinner (unless you go to gumpaste, which works well when it's very thin).

Glad you're happy with your yellow roses!
