Hi there,

I did my first tier cake a couple weeks ago and have another this weekend. We had a problem removing the tiers with the last cake, and I'm looking for info so we don't have this problem next time. What happened is, the cake board underneath the cake completely removed the icing and top of the cake underneath each tier. Also, the person serving used a spatula to remove the tiers. Is there a better method to do this?

If you put a little powdered sugar on top of the tier, before building the next tier, that will help with the icing issue. Not sure about the spatula, that's what we used on the one I did.

My wilton instructor told me to use wax paper in between the layers exactly the same size as the cake board. Its easy to remove and wont take the icing with it.
