Okay, so I see these beautiful cookies all of you make...how and when do you insert the sticks in to them...before or after you bake? Also, what kind of icing do you use...I have an 8 year old and 5 year old I am going to have attempt to make these tomorrow, and would appreciate any advise I can get. I understand from reading that the "no-fail sugar cookies" are the best recipe to use...correct? Thanks.
Hi Charman!!! Here is a thread I started and thought it might help ya with the stick question.

I love using Antonia74's royal icing and the no fail sugar cookies. They are sooo yummy!!

For the cookie dough..."the no-fail sugar cookie"recipe...unsalted or salted butter? Need to pick some up, but want to get the right kind!
People have said they use both....I think most bakers say to use unsalted though. There is a post about this, let me see if I can find it...

Here is a mini how-to that shows the way I insert my cookie sticks. I never have a problem with them falling off the sticks.

If I am using cutouts, I like to use royal icing to adhere the stick to the back of the cookie. If I am using a mold, I insert the stick before baking. I really like the royal icing and sticking it to the back.
