I saw a really neat cake today. It was done with a book pan. It was turned to page of a fariytale. i belive it had like a forest them with a unicorn on it and a molded fairy sat on the edge of the book. It was very neat.

You could do a doll cake made to look like a fairy.

I also like this one...I think it's done with wafer paper

I think you might be right Lisa. it appears the best bet to do the Dolly varden cake with wings.

argghhhhh! They took the picture off of their site icon_cry.gif
It was really cute with fairy figures made out of fondant or gumpaste and it was a stacked cake with a little fairy castle (I think on it)...it was soooo cute

oh wait..I saved it to my computer...but since it's not mine I would not feel comfortable putting it in this post. PM me and I will send it to you.

I don't know anything about wafer paper, but could you use the stand-up teddy bear pan, carve it to look fairy-ish (although chubby fairy) and then use wafer paper for the wings and "paint" them?

Funky_Cakes: This is so funny..my sister just sent me a picture of a fairy cake that her daughter wants for her birthday this year!
She got the picture off of this web site and I was going to search for it tonight, but it is of a tree stump with a little fairy sleeping on the top. The tree stump was made to look like the tree had been cut and you could see the rings, had a tiny little mouse at the base of the tree stump, flowers also...I'll just put on the picture if you would like to see it...

jscakes thanks for the pic. The cake is very cute. I am making a dolly cake to look like a fairy now. The little girl wanted it like this. Thanks for all your input.
