I am new to all this and just getting into gumpaste flowers and dusts. Just wondering what the diff is in petal dusts and the powdered food coloring used to color icing or chocolate. Most of the petal dusts are labeled non edible, but the powdered food coloring is obvious edible. Any thoughts???????????

Since gumpaste flowers are normally not eaten, the nonedible dusts are considered "decoration" to be removed before eating. Most of the non-edibles are the metallics. There are edible metallics available. Powdered food colors can be used, but they are often not a fine as the petal dusts.

If you take into consideration the end product you are creating, you can make a better decision about which to use.
