On Saturday night I iced cookies with royal icing. The ones that I made dark grey (almost black) have areas on them where they look wet. The others I colored green and purple do not.

I did not put them in the oven to dry. I just left them out on my table. The cookies had cooled about 8 hours.

What happened? I've never seen this before.

Thanks for any thoughts...

Hi their,
I dont know the answer, but am just wondering if it could be the black colouring that you have used. Because as with red and black you have to use alot more colour paste to get these colours. It could of upset the Icing and take more time to dry?Hope that make ssence.
Regards Claire

Thanks for your reply, Clare!

I have an order due Wednesday morning and really didn't want to have to start from "scratch".

Maybe I'll try the warming in the oven and just see what happens. At this point, it couldn't hurt!
