I would love to know what and how to make a sugar rose

It depends on what you mean by "sugar rose". If you mean a icing rose, they can be fondant or buttercream or royal. they can also be made with gumpaste that gets very hard.

Wilton has several basic decorating books and instructions. that would be a good place to start. You can usually take classes in your local craft store. That will give you basics of icing and flowers including roses.

do you mean "sugared rose" - where you take a real rose and dip it in a concoction of sugar and let it sit to become an edible flower for decorating with.
