Yes a knead the fondant for a few turns to get it pliable - then add your color. Make sure you have grease or powdered sugar on the counter surface or it will stick like mad. If you are adding a lot of color, you may need to correct the consistence with powdered sugar once its all in (or as you go).

What kind of coloring did you buy? I use the gel not liquid. knead it right in. I use a silicone sheet to knead it on. They are a little pricey but they make fondant work like a dream. I use it for cookies too. If You don't have one make sure to use crisco on your hands and counter. the coloring could stain. Clean in off of your counter as soon as your done. Good luck!

Yep, gotta knead like crazy...especially depending on how dark you want it. I use gel not liquid to color fondant. AND definitely, clean your counter afterwards but Clorox cleanup seems to work good if you do get some on there.

If you need it really dark, I would do it in the mixer with the dough hook.

I like using the paste colors myself..seems to get mixed in a little better. i also keep some fondant around that is really dark colors and use little pieces of that to mix into my white to get the pastel colors. (I use the empty fondant pails to store the colored balls, and ziplock bags)

one thing WEAR GLOVES! After you put them on, schmear some shortening into your gloved hand, as it helps with the kneading and not sticking to the gloves.

I walked around with pink hands for three days once (red fondant)! hahaha!
