I haven't done the stand up bear, but I did use the rubber ducky. I used the Campbells Tomato soup spice cake recipe. It's pretty dense like a pound cake but a lot tastier.

I made a stand-up Care Bear for my daughter in '04 and used Duncan Heins banana cake mix and added a pudding mix to the cake. I'm no pro, but it worked out okay. Just make sure to use the heating core. Good luck!

Regular cake mixes aren't really sturdy enough for the big 3-d bear, I've found. I have used one regular cake mix (any flavor) and one pound cake mix and combined them. And, I've also used a regualr cake mix and "doctored it" using the recipe for making a sturdier cake (I forget what it's called, but I'll see if I can find it).

Here is a really good recipe. I have used it many times, just recently for the truck I'm doing for my BIL and the 3d lamb I am taking to church. It's a pretty dense cake, almost like a bread. But it tastes so good. I got it from a Taste of Home magazine.

Eggless Chocolate cake
1 tbl + 1/2 c. baking cocoa, divided
3 c. all-purpose flour
2 c. sugar
2 tsp baking soda
1 tsp salt
1/4 tsp ground ciniman
2 c. cold brewed coffee
1/3 c. canola oil
2 tbl white vinegar
2 tsp vanilla extract
1/2 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
1/2 tsp shortening

Coat a 10 in fluted tube pan with nonstick spray and dust with 1 tbl cocoa( you can use any pan you want); set aside. In a large bowl, combine the flour, sugar, baking soda, salt, cinnamon and reamining cocoa. In another bowl, combine the coffe , oil, vinegar(I use lemon juice), and vanilla. Stir into dry ingredients just until combined. Pour into prepared pan.
Bake AT 359* FOR 40-50 mins or until a toothpick inserted near the center comees out clean. Cool for 10 mins before removing from pan to a wire rack to cool completely. In a microwave or heavy saucepan, melt chocolate chips and shortening; stir until smooth. Drizzle over cake.

You can omit the last part if making anything other than the bundt if you like.
Hope this helps. Good luck

Betty Crocker choc cake mix - not doctored. DO NOT use the heating core - fill him up to where his bottom paws start. It may run over some - so put a cookie sheet in the bottom of the oven.

When he is done - lay the cake pan done & carefully undo the clips - I take the back of first & let it cool a few minutes. And then put the back on and turn him over. Left the front off for a few minutes to cool and then put it back on and turn him over again. Take the back off again and leave it off till he is cool. I usually back at night since I work full time - I will let him set over night face down in the pan.

Trim the bottom so he's flat and set up. He will be ready to decorate. I like to decorate and let him set up before letting him travel.

I've done it this why for over 15 years with no problems.

Hope this helps.
