I know she says she used a large star tip for the sunflower leaves. I have a 2110 (or the 1M) at home - would that give the same look? I haven't used the tip yet, that is why I don't know. icon_redface.gif
I am thinking of using a small Pyrex bowl and baking a small half circle cake, covering it with small beads of chocolate icing and having that as the centre instead. Then maybe use the same large star tip and make little stars for a border.
Does that sound probable?

That looks like a larger tip to me then the 1M...it said it was on a 9" round cake, so....I'd suggest practice with your tip, you make get a similar look.

That sounds neat with the bowl. Sunflowers aren't round in the middle though, are they? I was thinking that they hump up on the outer edges, but then they're flatter in the center.

Good Luck!!

I thought it looked larger than the 1M too. Maybe if I make it on a 6" cake it will work.
On a sunflower, where all the seeds grow (in the middle), it does protrude slightly more than the rest of the flower. Right in the middle of rural Manitoba, I get to see them for several months each year!

the directions with the pic say once the petals were made, she filled the empty center with tiny semi-sweet chocolate chips. looks like an easy way to get a cute cake.

It looks like a 1M to me, but it could be larger. I'd bake a smaller cake like you suggested and play around with it a bit. Good Luck!

Very cute cake, thanks!
