Hey Fellow Frosting Fiends,

I am doing a quasi replica of my DH gas grill for his BD in a few weeks. I will just be doing a 9x13 sheet, will lightly hollow it out and cover w/black fondant. Am making a grill out of silvered bamboo skewers to hold the weight of the "food" on top

does anyone have a good suggestion for the grill that would be edible?? I don't think spagetti would be strong enough.

also

My biggest question..... What to make the gas grill briquests in the bottom out of?? The ones in his are a whitish/black, should I black colormist some pieces of cake???

Thanx!

Heather

what about pretzel sticks for the grill grates...you could cover them in grey fondant.

I am a little confused by your grill question. Are you asking for suggestions on what to make the actual rack out of that would be edible, or are you using the bamboo skewers for that and want to cover them? Sorry I can't help at the moment, brain is fried from trying to work and keep up withCC all day!

Are your briquettes those ceramic square/rectangular ones that help give it even heat? Maybe you could make cookies the same shape and roll them extra thick and then spray or cover in fondant? Maybe covered rice krispie treats.

I made a grill cake for my neighbor for his birthday - it is in my photo's- I used marshmallows and black food spray to make my charcoal. They were more grey than black.

I like the sprayed marshmellow idea, I will cut them up into more of the "lava rock" shape we have in ours.

The grill I am OK with being non edible, I would like to have some depth to the cake and taking the grill plumb off would be helpful plus it would hold the weight of the "steak, hamburger and hotdogs"

Thanx a ton!
