I have been looking at these books on different web sites. They are quite expensive. I would like to know if anyone has one or has actually seen the contents of one. Are they worth the money?
I LOVE my book. Gorgeous color & B/W pics of his cakes and pastries throughout the book.
You're shown step by step on so many different borders. It's well written and fun & easy reading.
"Recipes to die for" Fancy pastries are included here too. Your guests/customers would be in 7th heaven.
Anyone can greatly benefit even though it is an advanced decorator book.
If you can't afford or don't want to spend that much for a book, get it at your library. If they don't have it, ask them to get it for you. That's what I did before I bought one.
I too got my book on ebay. I watched and bid numerous times before I finally ''won'' my book.
Mine is a ninth printing, 1980. It's these later printings you can get for waaaaaay less than the $300 plus the originals go for. The newer books have everything in them as the originals do.
I got a super bargain at $23 including shipping!!!!!! I was so shocked as these usually will go for $50 & more!! So keep watching and keep bidding. It took me about 2 years of watching and bidding to finally win one at a fantastic price. I did have a $50 bid on it but lucked out and got it much cheaper. I'm still on cloud 9 over my win.
I would check books at yard/garage sales too. You never know what will show up.
GOOD LUCK!!! I hope you get this book ~ it's worth every penny!!
It is called "Lambeth Method of Cake Decoration". I have seen it priced all the way to $300.
a first edition of this book sells for over $700
They are labeled as rare and in great demand. So if you do not want a first edition you can get it cheaper.
Ebay is a good place to look.
Apparently they are in greater demand since the royal wedding.
