i was going to make a cake and cut it out in the shape of a number 1. I only saw one pic in the gallery and was wanting some decorating tips. Will it be hard to cut out a number 1 from a rectangular cake? Not sure how to do it..in theory it doesn't sounds hard. Any tips? Thanks

I haven't personally done one, but I'm sure that you can do it!

Here is a link to one that johanoyola did. I really likes the way she did the zig-zag style piping. http://www.cakecentral.com/modules.php?name=coppermine&file=displayimage&meta=search&search=number%20one&cat=0&pos=11&search=number%20one

or Aitza did one with the same style of piping.... http://www.cakecentral.com/modules.php?name=coppermine&file=displayimage&meta=search&search=number%20one&cat=0&pos=14&search=number%20one.

Another cute one is....heatherj...http://www.cakecentral.com/modules.php?name=coppermine&file=displayimage&meta=search&search=number%20one&cat=0&pos=18&search=number%20one.

These were just a few that pulled up on a search I did. Each one shows a little bit different style. I would say that you should figure out which elements of each you like and then PM them to find out how they did it.

Wish I could help more icon_smile.gif Post the picture when you are done!!!!

I've done it...don't have a pic. but it was really easy........just make a template for yourself out of paper or cardboard.......once you have the shape you want just lay it on top of the cake and cut it out.......it's also very helpful if you have one of those icing tips..the big flat ones....makes quick work of the sides since they're really crumby....also freezing the cake and then pulling it out and frosting it helps with the crumbs too...because the frosting sets up really quickly when the cake is frozen.
