Ok I can't seem to find it anywhere on line. But does anyone happen to know the name of the stuff that you put on cake dummies that isn't edible. And by that I mean that it isn't royal icing. I don't want the fondant stuff either. For the life of me I can't remeber the name of it.

Perma Ice

Here's one site: www.sugarcraft.com/catalog/wedding/Wfakecakes.htm

But I'm sure there are other places

Glad this came up. I was getting ready to do a dummy cake myself, but using fondant. Do I need to use the piping gel on the entire styrofoam cake circle or just around the base? Does anyone know or can give advise on this?

Thanks!

Wanda

On my last cake dummy, I only just used water on the styrofoam. Took a brush and brushed on some water all over and covered with fondant. Worked great!

When you use Perma Ice you also have to use the paste colors specifically for the perma ice, you can't use the edible paste colors for perma ice. Just thought i'll add that bit. I usually use royal icing when i ice dummy cakes, i have one posted on this site.
